After the Germans invaded Hungary, Meir was taken to the ghetto, escaped and arrived in Budapest. He made contact with members of his movement, equipped himself with forged documents and joined the underground activities. In October 1944 he arrived at the “Glass House”. After the liberation in 1945 he continued with his work for the movement and with the aliya of youngsters. At the beginning of 1950 he arrived in Israel. He was a lawyer (Magister Juris) approved for trials. He filled high positions in the Finance Ministry of the Israeli government and in private companies. He also volunteered for public work, especially in the field of education.
